What is the Hoop of Learning Program?

The Hoop of Learning (HOL) Program, offered by the Maricopa Community College District, is a scholarship-based bridge program that connects high school students to college, specifically designed for Indigenous students. Participants in this program have the opportunity to earn over 36 college credits, which can be applied toward an Associate鈥檚 Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or Certificate at any Maricopa Community College or university.

The HOL program takes a culturally grounded approach, emphasizing values derived from the Native American Medicine Wheel, which focuses on emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. HOL is designed with Indigenous perspectives in mind, rooted in the traditional Native American worldview of a circle, or hoop, representing lifelong development.
