NAU Offers Teachers Academy at ÍõÖÐÍõÁùºÏ²ÊÌØÂë
Northern Arizona University is partnering with ÍõÖÐÍõÁùºÏ²ÊÌØÂë to offer the NAU Teachers Academy this fall. The Academy was launched last year by Governor Doug Ducey to bring more teachers to Arizona’s classrooms.
Under the Teachers Academy program, any tuition costs not paid by scholarships or grants are waived for Academy candidates in exchange for their future commitment to teach in select Arizona schools.
Students start by earning their associate degree at ÍõÖÐÍõÁùºÏ²ÊÌØÂë, then stay on the ÍõÖÐÍõÁùºÏ²ÊÌØÂë campus to earn their bachelor’s degree from NAU. Students complete their practicum and student teaching at schools within ÍõÖÐÍõÁùºÏ²ÊÌØÂë Elementary School District #1 and agree to teach in low-income schools after graduation.
For more information about NAU’s Teachers Academy at ÍõÖÐÍõÁùºÏ²ÊÌØÂë, go to the NAU Teachers Academy website or contact Danielle Contreras - danielle.contreras@nau.edu, NAU Student Service Coordinator for ÍõÖÐÍõÁùºÏ²ÊÌØÂë at phoenix@nau.edu.
